Samsung Series 9 SB971 Quad HD Monitor Comes Hand-Tuned and Color Calibrated
Samsung garners a ton of media attention for its smartphones and tablets, but don't forget, the company also makes displays. Lest anyone has forgotten, the company just announced a new premium, hand-calibrated monitor, the Series 9 SB971. It's designed for users looking for a "stunning photo viewing experience" as well as graphic designers.
"Graphic professionals, photo enthusiasts and other groups that meticulously edit visual content require a monitor with extremely accurate color rendering, immersive viewing angles and premium picture quality, and the SB971 meets these demands," said Mike Abary, senior vice president of consumer IT product marketing at Samsung Electronics America. "This new Series 9 product will join the recently introduced SC770 touch monitor and SC750 rotating monitor to round out Samsung’s innovative lineup, offering every kind of user an ideal monitor for whatever their needs may be."
Hand-tuned by Samsung technicians and featuring a built-in color calibration engine, this is a serious monitor that's ready to rock as soon as it's unboxed and plugged in. It wields a 27-inch LED Plane Line Switching (PLS) panel with a 2560x1440 (Wide Quad HD, or WQHD) display. Though it's not aimed at gamers, the panel boasts a 5ms rated response time (GTG).
Other specs include 300 cd/m2 brightness (High Bright Mode), 1,000:1 static contrast ratio, a pair of built-in 7W speakers, and connectivity options consisting of DisplayPort, DVI-DL, and HDMI (MHL).
Samsung said it was shooting for a minimalistic design with its latest panel. It has a slim profile built on an ergonomic height-adjustable aluminum stand, which supposedly gives the monitor a "floating" screen look.
The SB971 will be available in Fall 2013 for $1,200 MSRP.
