Samsung Rumored to be Building 'Superior' Successor to Galaxy Nexus

Rumor has it Samsung is working on a next generation smartphone device codenamed "Superior" (GT-I9260) that will serve as the successor the Galaxy Nexus. It's hard not to build up expectations with such a confident codename, but will it really blow everything else out of the water? Not exactly.

The Superior smartphone is said to feature a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD touchscreen, 1.5GHz dual-core A9 processor, 8MP rear-facing camera, 1.9MP front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, and an SD card slot.

Galaxy Nexus

It's essentially a Galaxy Nexus device with a few upgrades across the board. If you recall, the Galaxy Nexus boasts the same size screen (sans HD), a slower clocked version of the same processor (1.2GHz), lower quality cameras (5MP on the back and 1.3MP on the front), and no SD card slot.

The Galaxy S III, meanwhile, trumps them both with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display, 1.4GHz quad-core A9 processor, 8MP (rear) and 1.9MP (front) cameras, up to 64GB of internal storage, and an SD card slot.

Their phones sure are pretty looking, however..

I think I may take the android plunge and finally move away from Blackberry this year, now that Whatsapp and the like are around.

That's not really enough of an upgrade to call it superior IMO, but it is a pretty sweet name:D

The galaxy S 3 is definitely one of the best Smart Phones out there. The name is awesome, but with the name would be expecting a lot more upgrades.

My wife has the Nexus and its a good phone but the reception is really bad on it. Side by side with my Galaxy S1 i will get 4-5 bars and the nexus is getting 1 bar at home.

I found the old Galaxy Nexus to be extremely hyped up. I feel this will be too. Probably going to be a disappointment.

They are ALWAYS building the successor, which is not "rumored" to be better, faster, etc - it will be, the next one is always faster, that's their job. What do you think they fire everyone after the phone goes out? I can post the same headline a month after every single phone release and it be accurate.
