Razer Introduces Sphex Ultrathin Mousepad

We haven't seen anything new from Razer since the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, but the company is stepping up big for the gaming crowd with its newest mousepad. Designed for those who hate feeling as if their frag-machine is on a raised surface, the Sphex "gaming grade desktop skin" is reportedly the planet's thinnest gaming surface.

Designed to handle both optical and laser mice and constructed from high-grade durable material, the Razer Sphex allows gamers to wipe or wash the product repeatedly without compromising its quality or tracking performance. Also, it can adhere and detach from any desk surface, and it's obviously perfect for gamers on the go who want to simply slip their mousepad in a folder and take off.

The 320mm by 230mm pad is available to order worldwide for $14.99 (or €14.99 in Europe).

I actually use a Ratzpad. It is raised up some. I personally don't mind it. I wonder how long such a thin mousepad would last you. I like mine because if it gets dirty or I spill something on it I can just wash it in the sink with dish soap.

For $15 though this is really worth picking up if you have a old cloth pad or no mousepad. As a gamer it is one of the cheapest ways to improve your ability. Plus it saves wear and tear on your mouse. I spent $25 on my mousepad over a year ago and it is not even started to wear. I used to use these little sticky lazer mouse pads from walmart for $5. I would go through one every few months.

I need a new mousepad desperately, but still can't decide on a plastic based one or a cloth pad.  This pad seems quite thin, but I've never understood how using a plastic pad would not wear down the mouse feet.

Just ordered one of these. Haven't been using anything thus far, just the top of my desk.

Kristo where did you order from?  I didn't see it on newegg or xoxide.

[edit] Just realized you can buy them through Razer...

My Pamela Anderson PlayMat has been doing just fine* since 1996, thank you.

*wash occasionally to remove Coke and rum.

Got mine yesterday, works quite well. I like the thinness most of all.  Aye, I bought mine right from Razer.
