Nokia Launches Lumia 2520 Tablet and Lumia 1520, 1320, and Asha Smartphones
That rumored Nokia tablet is now a Real Thing, as the company announced its Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet along with a slew of other products, including two new Lumia phones and three Asha handsets.
The Lumia 2520 tablet looks quite a bit like Microsoft’s Surface tablets, right down to the kickstand and Type-style keyboard. (It’s almost as if the two companies are in cahoots.) The 10.1-inch device features a 1080p HD display with Gorilla Glass 2 and a less reflective finish than some other tablets, and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (2.2GHz) chip is under the hood.

There’s also 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, a microSD slot, connectivity to SkyDrive, 6.7MP autofocus rear camera with Zeiss optics and a 2MP HD front camera, and front-facing stereo speakers. For connectivity, the Lumia 2520 offers 4G LTE, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, microUSB 3.0, NFC, and A-GPS+GLONASS.
The Nokia Power Keyboard, as it’s going to be called, wraps around the tablet to provide extra protection and features a touchpad and chiclet-style keys as well as an extra battery and two USB ports.
One tidbit that may not excite the masses, which you may have surmised from the processor inside: It runs Windows RT 8.1. It will also cost $499 when it launches in the U.S., UK, and Finland.

After numerous rumors and leaks surrounding a purported Nokia phablet nicknamed “Bandit”, which was later determined to be the Lumia 1520, the device is now official. The Lumia 1520 features that same Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor found in the 2520 tablet, and it also sports 2GB of RAM, 32Gb of internal memory, a microSD slot, and SkyDrive storage.
The 6-inch display is a full HD LCD made from Gorilla Glass 2, and it will recognize touch input even through gloves and from fingernails. The rear camera is a 20MP PureView with autofocus, Zeiss optics, image stabilization, 2x lossless zoom, and dual LED flash, and it shoots in 1080p HD at 30 FPS. The front camera is a 1.2MP HD affair. On the audio front, the 1520n offers recording with four microphones with noise reduction.
It offers 4G LTE, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), NFC, Bluetooth, A-GPS+GLONASS, and more for connectivity, and it supports wireless charging, as well. At $749, you’ll pay a pretty penny for the 1520, but the device sounds like it will be an impressive handset.

For a lot less money--$339--you could also opt for the Lumia 1320, which is also a 6-inch phablet but has some scaled-down features. The display is just 720p HD, and the processor is a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (1.7GHz). It offers 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, microSD support, and SkyDrive storage. The cameras are 5MP with autofocus and flash in the rear and 0.3MP in the front, and it offers 4G LTE, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, microUSB 2.0, and Bluetooth.

Nokia also added substantially to its Asha lineup of more affordable phones with the Asha 500, Asha 502, and Asha 503. The somewhat chunky-looking handsets run on the Asha platform instead of Windows Phone 8, and they range from 2.8-inch to 3-inch displays. The Asha 500 and 502 offer 2G capabilities while the 503 can handle 3.5G. The 500 has a 2MP camera while the others have a 5MP camera with LED flash, and all three have 64MB of RAM and support up to 32GB of microSD support as well as WiFi, Bluetooth, and microUSB.
The Asha 500 ($69), 502 ($89), and 503 ($99) will initially launch in the Asia-Pacific region and will provide some competition with lower-priced Android phones.
