Microsoft sued over XBox 360 glitch

Once the reports of faulty XBox 360's started hitting the net, lawsuit stories couldn't be far behind. Microsoft is now being sued for the defects in the console, which includes overheating that causes the system to crash. Microsoft claims the reports of overheating stem from only a small fraction of units that were sold, but they declined to say the exact number of reports.

"The proposed class action claims that in Microsoft's bid to gain share in the $25 billion global video game market, the company was so intent on releasing the Xbox 360 before competing next-generation machines from Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE - news). and Nintendo Co Ltd. that it sold a "defectively designed" product."

Great, does this mean I can sue the creators of every piece of defective hardware I've ever owned? Isn't just replacing a defective unit enough? Exactly what do these people deserve other than a working XBox 360 replacement? Well, depending on how this turns out, Sony and Nintendo will have some extra to think about during their launch periods.
