Mad Catz Aims Detonator Stereo Headset At Xbox 360 Gamers

Did you know that Microsoft and Mad Catz were in cahoots? They are, and they aren't ashamed of it, and neither should you be. The company landed a deal earlier in the year to provide accessories for the Xbox 360 platform, and now we're seeing that partnership blossom into shipping product. Mad Catz has announced the shipping of the Detonator Stereo Headset, the world's first official co-branded gaming headset designed for use with the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. In addition, the Detonator is compatible with a wide range of MP3 players, cell phones and audio devices.

The Detonator Stereo Headset includes 50mm Neodymium Drivers, Detachable Boom Mic and Selectable Voice Monitoring and is expected to be joined by additional products in the range in time for the 2011 holiday season. It'll be priced at $80, making it ripe for a (pricey) stocking stuffer. Provided you don't already own a 360 headset, that is.

With the exception of that RAT mouse everybody likes, Mad Catz has a somewhat poor track record when it comes to accessories. Hopefully with the specs being shown and the word Triton on the headset and the Microsoft branding; this will become a big hit and hopefully sound good.

Funny I used a $20 dollar headset for voice communication when gaming on my PC I don't really see the need to spend $80-$150 bux on a headset.
