Logitech Debuts Wireless Headset F540 For Hardcore Console Gamers

When you think PC Audio, there's a good chance that Logitech rings a bell. But mostly, those guys have focused on PC gaming sound systems. In the headphone world, there's Turtle Beach and Razer, but now even Logitech is joining that crowd. Their newest headset, the F540, is downright serious. These aren't built for casual gamers; they're built for gamers who take audio seriously, and who want the audio cupped around their ears rather than coming out of an array of multi-channel satellites.

This new set is designed primarily for PS3 and Xbox 360, and it lets you connect up to three audio devices. It's also wireless (both audio and voice chat), so there aren't any extra wires to worry over. The Wireless Headset F540 includes a wireless base station with three analog inputs, which means that there's really no limit to what kind of sources you could use here. All the controls you need are right on the headset – including independent voice and game volume levels, microphone mute, and an input selector that lets you switch between any connected audio source without leaving the couch.

The headset uses 40mm laser-tuned drivers, a noise-canceling microphone and a 2.4GHz transceiver. And if you're tired of going through batteries, this one has a rechargeable cell that can recharge overnight when you dock it. It'll last around 10 hours on a single charge, and it will ship this month in America for $149.99 (with Europe seeing it next month).
