LaCie Bumps 2big And 4big RAID Solutions With USB 3.0

Big and classy only gets you so far; to really get ahead, you need raw speed. LaCie's already got some fairly big hard drives, and all of them look just gorgeous, but now that USB 3.0 is becoming mainstream even on the Mac, it's making a few changes. The company just announced that its professionally-minded 2big and 4big Quadra multi-bay RAID hard drives are being updated with USB 3.0 support. LaCie completely re-engineered these external storage solutions for optimized performance with new Mac computers, and thanks to UAS (USB-Attached SCSI Protocol) compatibility and 7200rpm hard drives, these products reach speeds up to 210MB/s and 245MB/s respectively. With these speeds the user can transfer 10GB of data in less than one minute.

Professional artists and movie cutters will surely appreciate the newfound speed, and they can be grabbed in October for as low as $499. The 2big units will ship in 4TB and 6TB configurations, while the 4big will ship in 8TB and 12TB capacities.
