LG's Newest Smartphone: The 4.7" Optimus G With LTE, 1.5GHz Snapdragon CPU

In the wake of the Apple vs. Samsung ruling, it looks as if LG may be the one accused of copying here. The new Optimus G may look a little familiar... to anyone that ever seen the original Galaxy S II design. This new smartphone is set to become a giant in the sector, boasting an LTE radio as well as a quad-core CPU. That's a pairing that has been hard to come by so far, with a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 powering things. There's also a new 4.7" in-cell touch panel with a 1280x768 resolution. You may notice practically no bezel, and that's because there's only 3mm surrounding the IPS display. Other specs include a 13MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, 2100mAh battery and 2GB of memory. The entire unit measures just 8mm thick, and it'll ship in black and white.

Android 4.0 will be the OS onboard, and it'll ship initially in Korea and Japan. It's nearly a sure bet that this unit will hit other shores by the end of the year, and it'll need every ounce of hype it can get to rival new holiday offerings from HTC, Apple, Samsung and Nokia.

Optimus sure looks promising but there are other options. It wont be hitting the U.S. anytime soon and with the upcoming releases i dont think the masses can wait. Its *** waiting for blackberry. It better be a damn good phone.

These look nice and I love the inclusion of the quad core which has been or is used in several phones everywhere in the world except the US (this confuses me as quad core CPU would be a major draw in the US it would seem) but not here? The first OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) that does bring one should reap rewards for it unless everyone else does it at the same time. As far as it goes this is the first I have heard of a quad core packing smart phone being slated for the US.

Back in the day when I sold cell phones, I typically steered well clear of LG, and I seem to still have that bias now, despite their products improving. I need an LG phone to make a solid enough impression on me in order to change that I think.. not sure t his one does, despite featuring a ton of power under the hood.

Oh look, it's a square phone with round corners....

A square phone with round corners ? Apple will have it banned in Boston - oops, in the USA. Competition by lawyers strikes again !...
