Kingston Announces SSDNow V200 SSD

Another week, another SSDs. You've heard that one before, but it's true; solid state drives are becoming more and more commonplace, and for those waiting for prices to reach a point that makes sense for most consumers, it's always music to the ears. Kingston has just announced the next generation of its entry-level, budget SSDNow V Series. It's the SSDNow V200, which offers SATA Rev 3.0 (6Gb/s) support and promises to be nearly twice as fast as the previous V100 SSD.

It is also up to 20 percent less in price than its predecessor SSDNow V100 drive, and will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities as either a stand-alone drive or as an upgrade kit. The desktop bundle kit includes the SSD, cloning software, DVD with step-by-step installation video, cables (SATA data and power), and 3.5″ hard-drive mounting brackets and hardware. The notebook bundle includes the SSD, DVD with step-by-step installation video, cloning software and a 2.5″ external enclosure for easy OS and data transfer from HDD to SSD during cloning.

Pricing has not been given just yet, but hopefully we'll be hearing more on these shortly.

"Well, the Sata II V100's seem to always pop up with great deals in NewEgg, so this is great that the V200 which are Sata III are going to be 20% cheaper and substantially faster than its predecessor , its very appreciative for the consumer."

I agree...Kingston's predecessor has great read/ writes and were just on sale here in Canada (memoryexpress.com) for just under $180 CAD for their 128GB.

With the high prices of hard drives now it's worth investing in an SSD.

I agree but everyone making SSD's seems to either be dropping new drives or new versions of existing drive series and even new new Sata3 ones most of the big players are on series 3 of sata3 drives alone if not past that.

Looks like it may still be a little while before the prices for HDDs actually return to previous pricing .Looks like these newer more affordable Kinston drives will fit the bill and most appreciated for the increased performance.
