Intel IGP Supports HDMI/HDCP

HKEPC reports that Intel's upcoming G35 (Bearlake G+) IGP chipset will have complete support for both HDMI connections and HDCP. With Vista and high-definition formats such as HD-DVD and Blu-Ray promising to utilize HDCP, the inclusion of this technology is surely a necessity for Intel should they wish to hang onto the market share they currently have. Thankfully, the HDMI connection will also simplify things for users as the single cable can handle both audio and video duties. Unfortunately, the HDMI spec calls for 3.3V instead of the 1.2V which the motherboard can provide so an external "Level Shifter" will be used to boost the voltage. This chip will be in production in Q2 2007 so you can expect to see the retail releas of the G35 chipset sometime in Q3 2007.
