How to Score a Discounted Nintendo 3DS AND 20 Free Games

How to Score a Discounted Nintendo 3DS AND 20 Free Games

You already know that Nintendo is slashing the price of its struggling 3DS handheld console from $250 down to $170, that's old news. And you probably also know Nintendo is throwing an apologetic bone to existing owners in the form of 20 free game downloads. That's old news too. But is there a way to get the discounted price AND cash in on 20 free games? There is if you get your tail end in gear.

Reports are surfacing that Walmart is selling the 3DS at the $170 price point ahead of schedule, and has been doing so since yesterday. Why is this significant? Well, if you march on over to your local Wallyworld and pick up a 3DS console at $170 (plus tax, of course) and then connect to Nintendo's eShop before August 11 (that's tomorrow, folks), you can sign up for the Ambassador Program and receive 20 free game titles. It's the best of both worlds, but there's only a very short window to take advantage of it.

In case you need a refresher, those 10 free games come in the form of 10 NES titles and 10 Gameboy Advance (GBA) titles. Also worth mentioning is that it appears not all Walmart stores are ringing up the 3DS at the lower price, so if you want to potentially save yourself a trip, call ahead.

No one is responding to this because they are all at Wal Mart picking up a 3DS lol

this is sad. Nintendo is actually trying to make some profit from the 3DS and they also want to make their customers happy, so they dropped the price so everyone could buy one. They then let the customers who actually bought in at the original price have 20 games in place of the extra money they spent. Now Wal-Mart takes advantage of Nintendo's hospitality by giving away the 3DS at below price and you can get the games for basically free. Wal-mart wins because they make their cut, Nintendo loses because they lost profit on the console AND now the games that cost money to make available are practically stolen. This is just bad for Nintendo. Sounds great now, but wait till you bottom feeders shutdown Nintendo, or worse yet make them regret ever lowering the price and they never do it again. I hope Nintendo blacklists every single 3DS that is sold at Wal-Mart right now.

Ha-Ha-Ha! Ick!

It ain't gonna happen pal,....Nintendo is still making plenty off of the discounted units being sold at Wally-World and they are moving a heck of a lot more of them now because of the sale. Once people have them in hand and play through the free games, they'll be buying more of them over time.

It's a win-win for Nintendo given a sufficient amount of time. If they blacklist any of them, people will just take them back to walmart and Nintendo can eat them for dinner.
