HotHardware.com - There's An App For That

We know you're probably getting a little fed-up as of late, with words that start with a small "i" in front of them.  However, even with that realization, we have to steal just a little slice of your bandwidth, if you're an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad owner or are in possession of anything that will install an Apple mobile app.  When you're on the road and can't get your fix of HH, don't fret.  It's a cold, lifeless world out there without your daily dose of Hot Hardware, we understand, but we're here looking out for your best interest as always.  Now, you don't have to walk around uninformed, left flat, without entertainment and miserably disconnected from all the pure, unadulterated coolness we serve up here at HH.  You no longer have to suffer because, as with so many things in life these days, now for HotHardware.com, as they say, there's an App for that!

All you iPhone/Pod/Pad toting technophiles, gear-heads, gadget-lovers, computer geeks can rejoice.  Behold, Hot Hardware's App version 1.0 is now live and ready to rock your iWorld.  (cue Bob Dylan for good ol' Uncle Steve...)

HotHardware.com App Version 1.0
Click here to access and install from iTunes, iPhone, iPod/Pad

And of course, oh yes, it's completely FREE!  That is at least until we get so many of you hooked on it that we decide to upgrade it to version 2.0 and charge you an arm and a leg for it.  OK, OK, so it will always be free, that was a complete lie.

In all seriousness (we'll try now), the app allows you to quickly scan through Hot Hardware's content of news articles, full reviews and videos from our Youtube video channel.  You can then even share our articles or videos with your friend on Facebook, Twitter and over email.  Try it out!  You've got nothing to lose, honest.  Of course, if you find a bug, let us know and we'll beat our developer with a micro USB cable.  Enjoy!

Your poor developer. Well iMe does not exist (although at first they caught me with the iPad hype). I escaped Apple's greedy clutches and am still a true HH fan, and PC loyalist. I do hear however that iPhone4 is coming, and maybe to Verizon. Will this be true I don't know, we will just have to see if I again can escape Steve Jobs slimy grip trying to pull me to Apple world, a very dreaded fate I wish on not even my most hated enemy.

This is pretty awesome! Thanks Dave. I might have to get an iPod Touch just for this App! When are you releasing one for the Zune? Smile

Inspector 4 years ago

downloading NOW! :D, Thanks for the app ;)

Would be cool if you add forum posting on to the app xD

rapid1 4 years ago

lol that would make it more useful for sure. I am kind of hoping the iPhone gets added at Verizon. No news as of yet though:( I don't know the smart phone thing is a thought and an issue. Is it worth an extra 30-50 dollars a month is the thing with me.

Dave_HH 4 years ago

That is a great idea, Inspector. We'll put that on the list for version 1.1!

rapid1 4 years ago

Dave do you use an iPhone?

rapid1 4 years ago

rofl hey I am thinking of getting an iPhone if the actually do hit Verizon this quarter.

gibbersome 4 years ago

It's looking more and more unlikely. I was expecting an announcement this past wednesday, but Apple reaffirmed their commitment to AT&T with the iPad's 3G offerings.

rapid1 4 years ago

Yeah that sux to. Oh well Verizon still has a very wide array of compatible smart phones. In fact almost everything besides the iPhone. That may have just been with the iPad as well though.

Yep, they just got the Palm Pre! The iPhone is the last remaining thorn in their side.

How hard would it be for Apple to come with CDMA and GSM enabled iPhones? I think pricing has a lot to do with it. Apple gets an estimated $700 average selling price per iPhone, subsidized through AT&T. Comparatively, Motorola gets $450 for the Droid going through Verizon.

It's obvious that Verizon doesn't need the iPhone to survive, and they're most likely loving AT&T's 3G network troubles. Pressure on Apple?

mentaldisorder 4 years ago

Congrats to you guys on your new app!

Inspector 4 years ago

I got a problem :D, why doesn't some videos load for me? One of the video is CES2010 Wrap up,  All other videos load except this one...

caos420 4 years ago

do do do do,Twilight zone theme music is playing.

rapid1 4 years ago

Hey good app to have, the iCrapped, iFart, and iBurp sound a little juvenile but funny none the less. Makes me think of a modern whoopy cushoin.

rapid1 4 years ago

Yeah I see your points if this iPod has any impact and numbers I have a feeling At&t is going to be hurting as a network.

rapid1 4 years ago

that will also after a bit hurt the iPod sales as well. who knows for now we will see though

rapid1 4 years ago

This is very true they have pretty much either an equivalent or directly anything but the iPhone.

Inspector 4 years ago

wait rapid1 what are we talking about? O.o

rapid1 4 years ago

Yeah they have both the palm units and they are the new revisions as well. There line up is actually very impressive, as for changing the transmission method I don't think it would be an issue for the iPhone. As almost every phone in America on the mid to high end works on either with multiple carriers except the iPhone. I think is annoying, but also not a great business decision for Apple. Of course Apple's business decisions sometimes do seem odd. Anyway if they did flip to Verizon can you imagine how many users on a specific equipment type they would have? I imagine quite a large amount of active subscribers would switch. When your talking about this on a network which is what 3 to 4 times the size larger than it's closest competitor subscriber wise.

Verizon has 91.2 million subscribers, while AT&T sits at 81.6 million. Even with the larger consumer base, both Apple and Verizon have butted on some issues. Verizon isn't planning to give Apple as much autonomy over their pricing policies as AT&T did, and there are even rumors that Verizon wants to start distributing apps and content for the iPhone via VCast.

From Apple's perspective, the argument for Verizon is a lot stronger than it was a few years ago. They've taken the subscriber lead from AT&T, they've left AT&T in the dust in terms of 3G development, and they're rated higher for consumer satisfaction as well.

rapid1 4 years ago

very true and there supposed to be rolling out 4G(LTE which is not actually 4G by the IEEE rating anyway, Kinda like pre-n) now and throughout this year to finish the whole country some time in the first half of 2011. However; you know the big cities will get it first, and there piggybacking somewhat on the tower partner Sprint to a degree as Sprint has 4G operational in several cities and have since middle/late of last year.

At&t seems to be working on enable greater 3G coverage which make no sense to me,

rapid1 4 years ago

Yes I know the user split is 10 point something million I misstated that, but the network itself which will all be LTE(4G) is also 4 times the size at least.

It'll be on my iPod before tiffin. And we take tiffin pret-ty early in these parts, buckaroo.

rapid1 4 years ago

What exactly is Tiffin anyway?

gibbersome 4 years ago

Lunch. Though tiffin itself means this:

Harken back to the British rule of India...

rapid1 4 years ago

OK so lunch and these items are tiffin's interesting you learn something every day

blazarcher 4 years ago

lol dunno why but by looking at those tiffins I get hungy... Maybe cuz I am hungry..

Inspector 4 years ago

LOL why you bumping old threads then double posting  and the second one makes no sense... :D lol

rapid1 4 years ago

So where are you guys going with the next version and or the update

gibbersome 4 years ago

I think they've got forum posting in mind (which would be a great edition). The user interface looks nice, I wish I had an iPhone to test it out.

Inspector 4 years ago

Yep, they sure do Wink lol

Lets think of more they can add :)

Inspector 4 years ago

-snipped- Double posted...

rapid1 4 years ago

yeah I am not on an iPhone it would definitely be more convenient.

Sobearcat 4 years ago

Is there an APP for turning off all the APPs?

Inspector 4 years ago

haha sober, bet there is but apple rejected it :D lol

barmmer 4 years ago

Who cares about this apple nonsense. Lets tear apart this awesome PC for grabs!!!! 12 threads 6 cores.....what GPU can supplement such CPU horsepower??? And when are games going to take advantage of 12 threads being that I believe there is only one quad threaded game out there on the market. Chernobyl. And from what I hear the game is not all that. Which leads me to Crysis a game that is awesome with no settings activated ( I wish). Why is it that Crysis is so GPU dependent? Why can't they simply stream most of the code onto the CPU thereby taking most of the workload away from the GPU? Seems reasonable enough. I suppose what I'm hinting at is the question of whether this is the quintessential next gen CPU we are to expect architecturally? GPU's we know are nowhere close but hey we'll take whatever fills the void until then (a 2 gig radeon 5970). I'm gathering a resounding yes regarding the CPU. Give us POWER! Crysis 2 anyone?

Inspector 4 years ago

LOL you should of replied to the sweepstakes thread not this one :). I care for this app :) i use it to read HH :P lol. Still waiting for the app to have forum reply :)

blazarcher 4 years ago
