Great vid, as per usual.

I need to go read more on Optimus: I'm wondering if they're using shared memory to ease the transfers between chipsets, or if there's some really brief interruption while it copies surfaces from one to the other.

roughly ~3ms of latency is introduced at 60hz according to NVIDIA. And they haven't quite disclosed exactly how it's done, but it seems like the frame buffer data from the discreet GPU is copied to the system memory space of the IGP, when the IGP then outputs it to the screen. I was asking questions on the process and one of the interesting responses was "the IGP doesn't care where that data comes from"

The latest round of GPU architectures from NVIDIA also have what's known as a "copy engine" that is specifically designed to copy data from the frame buffer to IGP. So, they've obviously had this in the works for a while.

Great info! Thanks for the elaboration.

Man you guys are seriously pulling some pro Pod casting. It seems to get more focused as well as across the board for the time period covered. Very nice job buys, and every product spoken on is of course interesting and market changing somewhere and or somehow.
