Asus Transformer Book T100, totally an unsung hero for the holidays.

I couldn't agree more.

On the smartphone side I'm partial to the Moto X or G... the value just strikes me as incredible. Since I don't need a big phone, I'm leaning towards one of these.

I really looked at the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 2 a lot with its 3200x1800 display and under $1000 pricetag.  Also on the cheaper side the Dell Venue 8 & 11 Pro devices looks interesting.

Agreed bud! We have those Dell tabs coming in shortly actually, for review. I love the Yoga 2 Pro. That review is on the way as well! :)

I look forward to reading the review on the Dell Venue 8 Pro. After reading so many reviews on Android tablets it is hard to decide on one. It is time to retire my five year old iPod Touch as these old eyes need a bigger screen. I really hadn't considered a Win 8 tablet but with prices dropping like they are, it is definitely in the running.

I think the Yogo 2 is the most worthy holiday gift for sure. The rest in the category does not compare.

Nexus 7 2013 is the best bang for the buck

Love my Nexus 7 2013, although I think 8.9" would be the sweet spot for tablets IMO. The Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 seems like great hardware but I'm not sold on the UI/Software. I decided on a Lenovo Yoga 11S and think its the perfect size for a laptop/tablet hybrid. I'll be done with purchases for at least the end of the year ;).

The Nexus 7 or the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 2013. ;)
