Halo 3: Most Anticipated Game in History

As you may or may not know, AMD has recently announced the release date for Barcelona. Dubbed “the most anticipated premiere of 2007,” Barcelona will be released on September 10. Nevertheless, things are heating up at Bungie Studios as Halo 3 is poised for release. Bungie’s third game in the highly successful Halo trilogy is now officially the “most anticipated” game in history. In fact, pre-orders for the game have reached an unprecedented 1 million. Halo 3 might actually be in a position to overtake its predecessor, Halo 2, in record sales. Back in 2004, the release of Halo 2 saw an incredible sales figure of 2.4 million copies on the first day.
“Some analysts have predicted that the Halo bubble might burst, causing heartache at Redmond leading up to the important holiday sales period. Microsoft are banking on a resurgence of Xbox 360 sales on the back of Halo 3’s release, coupled with recent price reductions of the hardware.”
Halo 3 will be released about six weeks from now on September 25, which to some, may be the wait of a life time. Jill Hamburger, VP of movies and games at Best Buy probably says it best: “‘The excitement for Halo 3 is incredible… From our preorders online and the buzz we’re hearing in our stores, we know this release is going to be one of the biggest entertainment events of the year. We’re thrilled to be able to bring it to our customers.’”
