HP Intros Envy 14 And Envy 17, Refreshes Pavilion And Mini 210 Ranges

One for the business set, one for the gamer set. We like the style, HP. In order to not alienate one segment or another, Hewlett-Packard has decided to match their ProBook refresh today with a similar update on the gaming side. The company's Envy line, which evolved from their acquisition of Voodoo last decade, is seeing two serious new introductions today, while the Envy 13 of last year is leaving for good (it seems).

The new Envy 14 and Envy 17 reflect the company's “MUSE” (materials, usability, sensory appeal and experiences) design philosophy of fusing a rich mix of materials that create textured finishes, easy-to-use features for improved usability, a blend of artisan elements for sensory appeal, and intuitive features for simple experiences. That's a long-winded way of saying that style means a lot here, and there's no doubt that these two might just be the nicest looking gaming laptops on the market.

Metal finishes are just the beginning, as the couple also ships with Intel CPUs, ATI Mobility Radeon graphics, Beats Audio, HD webcams, a mini-DisplayPort connector, backlit keyboard, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and up to 2TB of hard drive space. The company is also using this opportunity to gently refresh the Pavilion line, bringing the dm4, dv5, dv6 and dv7 to market with the latest from Intel. Finally, the HP Mini 210 is gaining two new design looks: preppy pink and white crystal. Not much going on outside of an exterior refresh, but it just might be the perfect gift for that graduate in your life. Pricing and availability details are below.

HP Mini netbooks

HP also has expanded the HP Mini 210 line with two new designs, preppy pink and white crystal. The pink, plaid-like design on the preppy pink HP Mini 210 features HP Imprint 3-D, the industry’s first 3-D PC surface technology, which debuted on the HP Mini 110 by Studio Tord Boontje. Multiple layers on the top and bottom covers make the design appear to float on the surface while casting shadows onto lower layers. The HP ClickPad also features the preppy pink finish and tiny cupcake Imprint at the bottom of the unit.

The updated HP Mini 110, HP’s entry-level Mini, now offers an integrated six-cell battery that provides up to eight hours of battery life.⁽⁴⁾

• The HP ENVY 14 is expected to be available in the United States on June 27 with a starting price of $999.99. The HP ENVY 17 is expected to be available in the United States on May 19 with a starting price of $1,399.99.
• The HP Pavilion dm4, dv5, dv6 and the dv7 Select Edition are expected to be available in the United States on May 19 with starting prices of $729.99, $649.99, $699.99 and $849.99, respectively.
• The HP Mini 210 in preppy pink and white crystal and the Mini 110 are expected to be available in the United States on June 15 with starting prices of $354.99 and $279.99, respectively.
