Grand Theft Auto V Launches to Consoles in Spring 2013

It turns out Grand Theft Auto V won't be shipping in time for the holiday shopping season, that's the bad news. And the good news? You don't need to scratch the title off of your wish list, because come November 5, 2012, it will be available to pre-order "everywhere" (which likely translates to GameStop and on Rockstar Games' website).

Grand Theft Auto V will launch worldwide in Spring of next year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Rockstar Games announced. That's great news if you're a console gamer, but what about PC players?

"Hey guys, glad to see so much enthusiasm about the release announcement. For those asking about the PC platform, we're currently focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game and don't have any details to share about a PC version at this time," Rockstar Games posted in the comments section of its announcement.

Don't read that to mean Rockstar Games is planning to skip the PC platform. When Grand Theft Auto 4 launched, it took around eight months before it was ported over to PC. L.A. Noire, another Rockstar Games title, took six additional months to mosey on over to the PC after its console debut.

In any event, GTA V takes place in a re-imagined, present-day version of Southern California. Rockstar Games says it's the largest and most thriving game world it's ever created.
