G-Technology Intros New Apple-Centric USB 3.0 Storage Solutions

Need a few extra gigabytes for... well, whatever? G-Technology has you covered. The company has today announced a new line of portable and desktop USB 3.0 storage solutions, and considering that USB 3.0 is now a reality on some of Apple's newer machines, it's a match made in designer heaven. G-Tech's drives have always jibed with Apple's design ideas, and now, SuperSpeed is being thrown into that mix. The new G-Drive Slim ships in a lightweight aluminium case and offers up to 500GB of storage, while being entirely powered via a USB 3.0 connector. It'll start at $109.99.

There's also the G-DRIVE mobile and G-DRIVE mobile USB 3.0, with the former offering USB 3.0 + FireWire 800 + FireWire 400 interfaces; the USB 3.0 edition ships with just that interface. Both drives are offered 1TB, 750GB and 500GB capacities, and are USB bus-powered. The 1TB G-DRIVE mobile will have an MSRP of $189.99. The 1TB G-DRIVE mobile USB 3.0 will have an MSRP of $159.99.


Aiming to the compact crowd, the G-RAID mini offers two 7200RPM HDDs. It's designed to help those who need to back up client media, and it'll ship in 1.5TB ($359.99 MSRP) and 1TB ($259.99 MSRP) sizes. The G-Technology G-DRIVE slim and G-DRIVE mobile external drive family will be available in Apple Stores in July. The G-DRIVE and G-RAID solutions will be available in August 2012. The G-DRIVE mini and G-RAID mini solutions will be available in Q3 2012.
