Esperanto For Solid State Memory Coming In 2009
"For makers, the open common standard will help them cut costs for the
development of products as they will be able to manage memory solutions
more efficiently.
For example, the new standard will set the ground for memory makers to
develop next generation flash memory cards that will feature superior
functions to existing cards.
The JEDEC Solid State Technology Association (JEDEC), a leading
open-standards body in the semiconductor industry, will take the
leading role in standardizing the common format."
The new standard will be called: Universal Flash Storage -- UFS. This will make it easier for chip makers to rely on flash memory to lower access times to large files.
