EVGA Lets Fly With X58 SLI Core i7 Mobo Details

This week there seems to be a subtle (or not so subtle) leaking of Intel Core i7 "ecosystem" supporting products from Intel's various manufacturing partners.  In keeping with the buzz that will soon culminate into the launch of Intel's next gen platform, EVGA sends word and a few choice snaps of their HOT new X58 SLI FTW motherboard.

EVGA is proud to show a sneak peak of a new motherboard based on the Intel(R) X58 Express Chipset, supporting the upcoming Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 processor. The EVGA X58 SLI FTW motherboard will feature 6 DIMMs of triple-channel DDR3 memory, and a board layout optimized for the enthusiast including 2-way and 3-way SLI support. EVGA VDroop control minimizes VDroop for the highest level of stability possible and EVGA E-LEET Tuning Utility gives you the power to Overclock at your fingertips. With these features and more, it is no wonder EVGA products currently hold the top 3DMark Vantage Performance Record! Product will be available in November 2008.

EVGA X58 SLI FTW Motherboard Features:

  • Supports Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 Processors
  • Intel(R) X58 Express Chipset with the ICH10R
  • EVGA VDroop Control
  • 100% Solid State Capacitors
  • 6 DIMM triple-channel DDR3
  • Enthusiast layout supporting 2-way, 3-way SLI and CrossFireX
  • 10 SATA II 3.0GB/s ports (1 e-SATA)
  • EVGA E-LEET Tuning Utility

We'll see if we can snag one of these for testing so you can see how she runs, in the weeks ahead.

Looking forward for I reveiw. 6 Dimms,3sli should make for a good read. Curious what the max allowed mem!

i'm really looking forward to seeing what x58 and core i7 brings to the table as far as performance is concerned!

Oh goodness yes....with all the Hype around nehelam I don't expect anything less than extraordinary on all boards.

Sad thing is most of us will have to just dream for the next year until they release consumer-based CPUs (don't really have $1000+ for a CPU and $200+ for a mobo at the moment)

They are releasing a $300 cpu at launch. The mobos and DDR3 will still be high, though DDR3 is coming down fast. This mobo looks really clean.

also I fixed this for you nelson

Wow that is a pretty da#* solid looking board. Hope this doesn't give me away as one of those dreaded over clockers, but a clear cmos on the rear panel. I am looking forward to this kind of convenience, not to mention supports nvidia and ati card x3 with big beautiful mosfet cooling solutions on board.

Wow How did I miss that. Very nice. Much better then that stinking jumper on my board. Thats right Intel I'm looking at you Angry

Official Crossfire and SLI on one board! That's pretty cool. I haven't had an Ati card since my 9800 Pro, but it's still great to have the option.

Looks nice, but it will be expensive down under in Australia. Our $ is around 0.62 cents to your U.S. $1.00 and the QX9770 is between $2.200 and $2.400 on most online stores down here.I would have posted this a few days ago,but I had issues with my internet provider.

Wow that is a large jump in price. Welcome to HH forums!

Yeah, the pain will be felt in New Zealand, too. Our dollar has fallen from US$0.80 in March to US$0.56 now. I can see Mr Procrastination is going to get his way yet again.

Tony.

Kinda going backward a little bit -- are not all releases this year going to be Xeon/server-based CPUs? That is, CPUs that will not necessarily improve gaming performace...kinda tying in with this performance is supposed to be geared at strictly multi-threating. So again for everyday users that aren't encoding, rendering, gaming, photo-editing, and watching *** I don't think it'd necessarily be worth it yet....

Damn . . . I'll have to wait a little longer . . . this should be a lot better than my dream MSI P7N2. I can't wait to read the REVIEWS on this board.

You bet I'm willing  . . . my frustration waiting for the release of MSI P7N2 in the U.S. market is turning out to be a blessing indisguise. Big Smile . . .  I'm hoping that by January or February next year 2009 . . . this X58 is going to be in full blast and available in the market . . . but before that we need to see the deeper specs . . . the performance and test results. Wink

No one in there right mind would release info and break NDA. They will at the very least loose any chance of ever getting any sweet previews again. This is the best I can do for now. They should be out sometime next month.

Yeah it will work just fine. It will just run in dual channel mode instead. You lose a bit of memory speed, but it will still be much faster than current intel boards.

Does having three sticks of ram installed make it triple channel(assuming you've got them in the right slots)?  Or does it have to be specifically "triple channel" ram?

0

As long as you have three matching sticks
