Dell Venue Pro Smartphone Sports a Vertical QWERTY Keyboard

Dell this week announced the launch of its new Venue Pro, the only Windows Phone 7 device with a vertical QWERTY keyboard, at least thus far. It's also equipped with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 4.1-inch multi-touch AMOLED display, 5MP camera with auto-focus and LED flash, 8GB or 16GB of storage, and 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooh connectivity options.

"No matter how you slide it, the Dell Venue Pro with Windows Phone 7 brings a fresh new approach of doing more with less," said Michael Tatelman, Dell vice president and general manager, Dell consumer sales and marketing. "We’re continuing a path of creating smart, innovative and new mobile experiences to help people discover new ways to enjoy the web, connect with friends, and navigate their lives."

Not to harp on the vertical keyboard, but since just about every WP7 devices comes with the virtually the same feature-set, in this case the keyboard really is a differentiating factor.

The Dell Venue Pro is available immediately at Microsoft retail stores, Store.Microsoft.com, and direct from Dell. The 8GB version runs $100 with a qualifying 2-year service agreement (T-Mobile), while the 16GB runs $150. Without contract, the two versions run $450 and $500, respectively.
