If you like gadgets and you travel a lot, D-Link
has a shiny new toy for you. The D-Link DIR-505 is a “mobile companion” that functions as a router/access point, signal repeater, and WiFi hotspot triple threat, and it’s not even three inches square.
The little bugger plugs into a wall outlet and features one-touch setup and configuration with WPS. Once it’s up and running, you can share media and files between a USB storage device and iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Additionally--why not--it also serves as a travel charger for iPhones or Android phones.
The DIR-505 support WPA and WPA2 security protocols, operates on the 2.4GHz band, and supports 802.11g/n and 802.3/u standards. Users can work with it via a Web-based UI and take advantage of its many features such as VPN pass-through, “Guest Zone” support, UPnP support, and firewall features including NAT, SPI, MAC address filtering, and DMZ support.
The device comes with a 1-year limited warranty and will run you $99.99.
