Corsair Plays It Cool with New Hydro Series H40 and H70 CORE Liquid Coolers

Corsair continues its wet and wild run into the world of liquid CPU cooling with the introduction of its new Hydro Series H40 and H70 CORE coolers. Both are supposedly easy to install and require zero maintenance, two big advantages self-contained liquid coolers have over the roll-your-own variety.

Sitting on the entry-level end is the H40. This closed-loop cooler supports most modern AMD and Intel sockets (AMD AM2, AM3, and FM1; Intel LGA 1155, 1156, 1366, 2011, and 775). Both the cold plate and radiator are made of aluminum, and a 120mm fan helps keep things chilly.

For those who need a little more cooling oomph, the H70 CORE is based on Corsair's existing H70 and boasts a double-thick 38mm radiator. It doesn't ship with any fans, the idea being that you can "personalize" the cooling performance with existing fans or ones you pick out on your own (it supports two 120mm fans). Like the H40, the radiator is made of aluminum, however the cold plate material is all copper.

Look for the H40 and H70 CORE to ship later this month for $59 and $89, respectively.

"Is Corsair fully planning to go back to Asetek? They do have a recall pending with the H100's. Anyhow, The Core H70 doesn't represent any value since the H80's can be found at $89 at any given time, seen it dip into the low $80, so I don get whats up since the H80 comes with two fans , and if you decide not to use em, then you have two back ups or used them for the case."

Well at least Corsair seem to be making good on the claims with the recall issue on the H100's.They are a reputable and certainly what we expect form them.think that the new H40 at a 59.00 price is OK and may selll a bt less.,so a good deal there.Still think the Core' version may be a bit high and would like to see a bit smaller gap price -wise ,,about $20.Really can't complain to much about the pricing..Especially if re-cyling some fans to use with the H70 model.Seems to the fans with a higher static-pressure reform a bit better when pulling or pushing the in/out of these radiators.& can make a difference for those that appreciate the cool and quiet.

"Totally. But the Price doesn't make sense on the Core H70. On the H40 , It might get cheaper than that since the H60 and the Antec Kuhler H2O 620 are selling at $60 though".

***I have an Antec H20 620 I guess it sells/sold for about $60 ..the Asetek folks sent me one earlier this year . I was referring to maybe a $ 20 dif between them at a good deal price for the H70.

any how here's a thought ? if you were going to consider a Antec 620 @$50 or the Corsair H40 @$60 whcih one ?? would you buy ?

TaylorKarras:

What I'd like to know is if the thickness of the H70 is the same as on the H80 or as thick as they're saying they are... I mean certainly the thickness and the performance has to play into the price right?

Good point ! with the radiator thickness & would also have to consider the pump design too >>>notice  the 'button' missing it was also part of troubleshoot " fix before the RMA's on the previous H100 s

My H50 and H60's are top notch coolers. All of them have two aftermarket fans on them in a push/pull configuration. All of the fans are on full blast, all of the time. They have low noise, high airflow fans on them.

Nice stuff and the prices are not too horrible for high end coolers. I remember spending at least 50 bucks on the air cooler that is in my current machine.

Well... I have some leftover brackets laying around somewhere that are AMD I think. I might be able to send them to ya!
