Asustor AS 6 Series NAS First to Feature System Sleep Mode (S3)

Asustor, a subsidiary of Asus that's focused on network attached storage (NAS) and video surveillance solutions, today announced the launch of its all new AS 6 Series NAS boxes. According to Asustor, these are the first NAS devices in the world to feature System Sleep Mode (S3) along with near instantaneous wake up times.

The AS 6 Series ships in 2-bay (AS-602T), 4-bay (AS-604T), 6-bay (AS-606T), and 8-bay (AS-608T) configurations. Each model features an Intel Atom 2.13GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of DDR3 memory (expandable up to 3GB), USB 3.0 support, HDMI, SATA 6Gbps support, RAID 0/1/5/6/10 support, hard drive hot swapping, and read/write times of 200MB/s or more.

All four models also come preloaded with Asustor Data Master (ADM), a specialized operating system for storage devices that's purportedly easy-to-use and supports an expansive array of apps, the company says. Some other feature highlights include AES 256-bit encryption for individual shared folders, UPnP Media Server support, iSCSI targeting, a built-in firewall and Network Defender, and remote replication via FTP and Rsync.
