Given the wild success of the iPhone, Apple seems to be considering a return to the PDA market according to sources.
This isn't the first time such rumors have made the rounds, and it could very well be that Apple has occasionally borrowed development resources from the project and put them to work on products like the iPhone. With other projects having cut into the development of a new Apple PDA, when could we expect one to see the light of day?
"More broadly characterized as Apple's answer to the ultra-mobile PC,
the next-gen device is believed to be tracking for a release sometime
in the first half of 2008. Assuming the project remains clear of
roadblocks, sources believe it could make an inaugural appearance
during Jobs' Macworld keynote in January alongside some new Mac
offerings. Still, manufacturing ramp and availability would seem
unlikely until closer to mid-year, those same sources say."
Given that Apple has shown a recent tendency to bolster product sales by including media playing capabilities into new products, we're curious to see what Apple's new take on the PDA might be.
