Apple Delays iPad Preorder Ship Dates

If you were hoping to get a brand new iPad shipped directly to your house by the store launch date of April 3 and haven't already placed a preorder, you're too late. Recently, Apple announced that customers who placed preorders after March 27 will have to wait until April 12 for their iPad to ship.

Apple began taking preorders for the iPad on March 12 and promised to get the device in users' hands by April 3. Although customers who placed preorders with Apple before March 27 will receive the device by the store launch date (assuming Saturday delivery is available in your area), users who were slow at placing preorders won't get the device until more than a week later.

Apple didn't give a reason for the shipping delay but did say that customers who want an iPad on April 3 can still preorder the device for in-store pickup or purchase the device at stores that day.

The iPad that will be available on April 3 will only connect to Wi-Fi networks. It will cost between $499 and $699 for various storage capacities. If you're more interested in a 3G model that will connect to cellular networks, you'll have to wait until later in April and be willing to pay $629 - $829, depending on model chosen. International customers will also have to wait until later in April.

When launching a product, especially if you're Apple, I can't think of a better problem to have than having too much demand and not enough inventory. I'm not saying it's ideal but this is a walk in the park for Apple.

This is all just a marketing ploy!! They have made more than enough. With all the competition that is coming out with the other tablets, they have to do something!

Now, they really must do something to justify those prices, compared to their performance. If Turtleneck doesn't come out and make the news, then the demand wouldn't be there. If people really started to research and see all the other alternatives, they definitely will not be rushing to the stores like Apple demands you to!

It is kinda ironic that commercial from the 1980's, where Apple was the one to break the Big Brother hold on everyone? Now they have turned that completely around and they are doing exactly what they were saying other manufacturers were doing to the public back then. Everyone step in line and purchase what we tell you when we tell you. This sounds more like intimidation and mind control, than anything about not having enough product. Or more to the point, Propaganda for today's youth, the only problem is like Germany '33, if you say anything to the contrary it is offensive and must be attacked!

What happened to reasoning, and Patience :P

Or you could be like Cartman and just freeze yourself until after the release date! Then you might get to go on a Buck Rodgers adventure :P (They might need to wait for the remake of BR to know who he is;o)

This is Apple we're talking about, lol.  Their prices are never justified when you could buy the same or equivalent performing parts for cheaper.
