ASUS Keeping Busy at MWC, Announces Fonepad 7-inch Tablet with 3G Voice and Data
The Fonepad features 3G voice and mobile data, so you can use it sort of like a giant phablet, as well as an Intel Atom Z2420 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and a 10-point multitouch 1280x800 HD IPS display. It’s also got 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage (plus the requisite 32GB via the SD card slot), a 1.2MP front-facing camera, 3MP rear camera with autofocus and 720p HD recording, and ASUS SonicMaster with MaxxAudio 3 for audio.
The sleek-looking tablet includes ASUS productivity apps such Floating App for more efficient multi-tasking, note-taking app SuperNote, 5GB of free lifetime ASUS WebStorage, and WebStorage Office Online. You can also opt for the VersaSleeve 7 cover, which folds to prop the tablet up when needed, or the Turn Case, which is a lightweight hard shell to protect the tablet that also includes a built-in stand.
Unfortunately, the ASUS Fonepad won’t be available in North America, but that could change at some point. For the Brits and those in the EU and APAC, the Fonepad will be available starting in Q2 2013 for €219 (8GB version), with the VersaSleeve (€19.99) or Turn Case (€39.99) costing extra.
