DisplayLink and ASUS Announce Worldwide Availability of Universal Docking Station at Computex

2010 COMPUTEX TAIPEI

PALO ALTO, Calif. & TAIPEI, Taiwan--To enhance the growth of the universal docking station market, ASUS has chosen to integrate DisplayLink’s USB virtual graphics processor, the DL-165, into the ASUS USB Universal Docking Station. The new product, announced last month, will now be available worldwide and is being displayed at this week’s Computex tradeshow Taipei, Taiwan in the DisplayLink and ASUS booths.

“With the release of the ASUS Universal Docking Station, business and consumers everywhere will be able to enjoy the connectivity and productivity benefits of a system agnostic dock,” said Dennis Crespo, DisplayLink executive vice president of marketing and business development. “And being one of the largest computer manufacturers in Taiwan, ASUS is the company to help us make it happen.”

The ASUS Universal Docking Station is designed to completely manage Internet and peripheral connectivity for today’s notebooks, creating a full desktop experience in the office or home. Busy workers and consumers alike can now connect all their computer peripherals such as mouse, keyboard, display, speakers, and wired Internet to their notebook through one device. With a single USB cable between the laptop and the universal docking station, it enables improved mobility and a better user experience. Users are no longer tethered to their desks by multiple peripheral cables.

With the benefit of the DisplayLink DL-165 silicon and software solution, auxiliary displays can support higher HD resolutions to 1600 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080 (wide) and display high quality graphics, smooth video playback and provide seamless interactivity.

“At ASUS, we strive to provide our customers with the best performance and productivity from each piece of PC hardware they buy,” said Jessie Lee from ASUS Marketing Div. “Using DisplayLink’s USB virtual graphics processor, the DL-165, has allowed us to develop a high-end device that will increase productivity for all mobile users and eliminate the costs and complications associated with traditional docking solutions.”
