AMD Gloats About Major ODM Wins With Fusion APU

When you finally ship a product you've been teasing for years, you can brag a little. It's okay. No one will be upset. In fact, we're still pleased that AMD finally came through with Fusion, and if they now need to gloat a bit on how much everyone likes it, well...go ahead! After the Fusion APU found its way into a number of nettops and notebooks earlier this year, and now it seems that leading ODMs are flocking to the company to follow suit.

To date, nearly 24 unique ODM whitebook and high definition PC (HDPC) designs based on the AMD C- and E-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) are expected to be available for distribution and purchase in the first half of the year, and that's not too shabby for a brand new and largely unproven chipset. AMD Fusion-based whitebooks are available now for purchase from leading ODMs worldwide, including Clevo, Coby, Compal, ECS, Hasee, MSI and Shuttle. New generations of HDPCs powered by the AMD E-Series and C-Series APU are also expected to be available in the first half of 2011 by ODMs including JEHE, J&W, MSI, PCP, Tul and WeiBu.

We're guessing that these machines will be highly desirable. In our testing, the Zacate APU has proven to be quite the performer, and particularly in cheaper machines, Fusion outguns rivals that use Atom. Good for AMD, and good for consumers. Definitely a win-win, as they say.
