PAX Redux: EVGA Flaunts Classified X99 Motherboards And Classified GeForce GTX 980
We saw a lot of interesting hardware at PAX earlier this month, but we weren’t able to cover every single product that we saw at the time. Thankfully, we’ve had some time to refresh our memory banks and report on these two particular beauties that we saw at the EVGA booth.
First up is the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Classified ACX 2.0. The graphics card is of course built using NVIDIA Maxwell architecture which means you’ll find 2048 CUDA cores, a 1291 MHz core clock (1393 MHz Boost) and 4GB of 7010 MHz GDDR5 memory. The dual-slot graphics card also features EVGA’s ACX 2.0 cooling system, which uses swept fan blades and double ball bearings to efficiently push as much air as possible to cool the GPU.
The EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Classified ACX 2.0 is currently available from Amazon for $689.99.
Another product taken out of the secure file cabinet was the X99 Classified, which is powered by Intel’s X99 Express chipset. The 8-layer PCB motherboard is loaded to the gills with features including dual 8-pin CPU power inputs, 10-phase Digital VRM, solid state capacitors, eight total DIMM slots (providing support for up to 128GB of memory), 10 SATA 6.0Gb/s ports, six USB 3.0 ports, eight USB 2.0 ports, M.2 Socket Slot E and M, dual Intel GbE, and Triple BIOS.
The EVGA X99 Classified is likewise available from Amazon for $399.99. However, there is a $20 manufacturer mail-in rebate [PDF] available which drops your out-of-pocket cost down to $379.99 when all is said and done.
