Apple Confirms iOS 9.3.2 Has Issues, Pulls Update Responsible For Bricking iPads
Apple says only a "small number" of 9.7-inch iPad Pro owners were affected by a bug in iOS 9.3.2 that caused some tablets to freeze and cease booting. Though Apple seems to be downplaying how many iPads are now out of commission because of the update, the Cupertino outfit is investigating the situation and working on a remedy.
"We're working on a fix for an issue impacting a small number of iPad units that are receiving an error when trying to update the software," an Apple spokesperson told iMore. "We'll issue and update as quickly as possible."
In the meantime, those affected by the buggy update are unable to use their iPad Pro tablets. Instead of booting into iOS like they're supposed to, bricked iPad Pros are displaying a vague "Error 56" message imploring owners to plug their tablets into iTunes. Unfortunately that doesn't do anything to solve the problem, nor does attempting a reboot.
Apple's support page doesn't shed much light on Error 56 messages. It seems to be a catchall error relating to a possible hardware issue, and users that see it are advised to check that they're using the latest version of iTunes. They're also advised to check for bad cabling. Neither of those appear to be the culprit here.
