Android 7.0 Nougat Tapped For August 22nd Release According To Leaked Telus Doc

At the end of July, we learned that there would be a chance of Android N coming out in August. Thanks to a leak that came out of Canadian carrier Telus, we might have just gained an even more accurate answer: August 22nd.

The information leaked from Telus is a simple schedule of updates hitting various phone models. This list states which each update is, and for Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, August 22nd will be the day for the "Android N Update".

Per the information we found last month, it still appears that the Nexus 5 will not be treated to any nougat-flavored OS -- a harsh reminder of just how quickly mobile devices can be considered unsupported. Lack of official support doesn't mean that those willing to get their hands dirty would not be able to find a custom ROM of Android 7.0, but as always with these things, your mileage could vary.

For those fortunate enough to have 7.0 coming to their phones for certain, what's to look forward to? One of the biggest new features is the ability to run two apps side-by-side. This could prove especially useful to those on tablets, which have a fair amount of physical real estate. No doubt there will be many apps that will have updates to better support being cut in half.

Another huge perk of 7.0 is the ability to reply to people in-line from the notification drop-down menu. WhatsApp has had similar functionality for a while, but an OS-wide system like this makes far more sense - it's simply convenient.

While nothing is certain right this moment, if August 22nd is in fact the launch day of 7.0, Nexus 6P and 5X owners should be in for a treat. Just remember to brush your teeth after updating.
