OnePlus 2 Images Leak, Fingerprint Sensor Supposedly ‘Faster Than Touch ID’

Little by little, we're learning new things about the OnePlus 2, the successor to the popular OnePlus One that was originally supposed to launch on June 1. We still don't know when the new flagship model will be available to purchase, but in the meantime, fans of the OnePlus series can get their first glimpse of the phone, or so we think.

A pair of blurry photos showing both sides of the supposed OnePlus 2 were sent to PhoneArena. The site isn't super confident in their legitimacy, noting that they're "taking these images with the proverbial grain of salt." However, the blurry shots do go in line with previous rumors that the new model will resemble its predecessor.

You can make out what looks to be a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, which is a feature we know the OnePlus 2 will have. And not only will it have a fingerprint scanner, but the OnePlus team says it will use the most advanced fingerprint sensors currently available.

"With the OnePlus 2, the fingerprint sensor is done right. It’s refined and lightning quick, unlocking your device faster than TouchID," the OnePlus team said in a blog post. "The average person checks their phone over 200 times per day. If you spend just three seconds inputting a PIN number or pattern, that’s over an hour of your time gone each week."

"On the OnePlus 2, one quick tap takes you right to your homescreen. With the ability to store up to five fingerprint profiles, it’s fast, it’s safe, and it’s secure," the OnePlus team added.

The OnePlus 2 has some big shoes to fill. It's predecessor featured a 5.5-inch display with a 1920x1080 resolution, Snapdragon 801 SoC, 3GB or RAM, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and 16GB or 64GB of built-in storage.

It's rumored the OnePlus 2 will bump things up to an octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC with Adreno 430 graphics, higher resolution display, and a Type-C USB port.
