Microsoft’s ‘Fat’ 500GB Xbox One Falls To Just $249 Ahead of Slim ’S’ Introduction
To make room on brick and mortar (and online) store shelves, Microsoft is once again cutting the price of the current Xbox One to drive sales. The entry-level 500GB console was reduced from $349 to $299 ahead of E3, and dropped again to $279 in mid-June. This time around, Microsoft is lopping another $30 off the price of the console, bringing it down to $249.
Will Tuttle, Editor in Chief for Xbox Wire announced the news, stating:
This means any 500GB Xbox One console is $249, including the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition bundle, the Special Edition Quantum Break bundle with white console, and the Name your Game bundle, which allows you to choose a full game download of one of four blockbuster titles: Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, or Rare Replay.
This price is effective “while supplies last”, so if you don’t absolutely need the new svelte Xbox One S or its fancy new Bluetooth-enabled controller, here’s your chance to get a pretty good deal on the outgoing model.
For those keeping score, the 500GB Xbox One S will start at $299, while the 1TB and 2TB models are priced at $349 and $399 respectively. The first model to launch, however, will be the 2TB model, which bows on August 2nd. That date also just so happens to be when the Windows 10 Anniversary Update become available.
