Microsoft Charts Differences Between Windows 10 Editions

Microsoft's dropped a couple of hints about the differences between the various Windows 10 editions in the past, but with a newly released PDF, we're given a no-nonsense bullet list.

As I mentioned in a previous post, Windows 10 Home is going to be suitable for the vast majority of home users. While it might be nice to see that "Pro" in the name, that edition's special bits are niche, and their non-existence in the Home edition won't impact that many people. It helps that Home packs in one of the more important "pro" features: drive encryption.

Pro perks include the ability to join a domain, manage group policies, use Bitlocker, and use remote desktop. The Enterprise and Education editions pile on more features: Direct Access, Windows To Go Creator, AppLocker, BranchCache, and Start Screen Control.

One thing that is interesting is that the Pro version will gain access to the Business Store for Windows 10, which we'd assume would be switchable since some might prefer the full-blown consumer store. Also interesting is that the Enterprise and Education editions have "Granular UX Control". We're not quite sure what that means, but it's definitely intriguing.

As we reported the other day, Windows 10 is set to release in "waves" beginning on July 29th, and given the sheer amount of information we've been covering since the OS was first announced, it's going to feel amazing once that release finally happens.
