Incipio offGRID Battery Case Brings Forgotten microSD Slot To Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge

Samsung did the right thing by ditching the plastic construction that had become so familiar on prior Galaxy devices and switching to a premium design for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Plus, but did a quality look and feel really have to come at the expense of a microSD card slot? Or a removable battery? Unfortunately that's the way things went, though Incipio's offGRIP extended battery case looks to save the day on both fronts.

Let's start with the battery. The offGRID case sports a 3,700 mAh battery compared to the 2,550 mAh battery found in both flagship Galaxy devices. That means you can expect more than double the battery life when using the offGRID. Should you drain both batteries, Incipio points out that the offGRID supports Quick Charge 2.0 and Samsung Fast Charging pass-through, allowing you to rapidly recharge your phone while connected to the battery case.

Incipio's offGRID is also lightweight and relatively thin for a battery case, yet has a hard shell exterior to protect your premium designed Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge against accidental drops. If you're keeping count, that's three things the offGRID has going for it so far -- extended battery life, fast charging capabilities, and a bit of damage protection.

The cherry on top is that it boasts a built-in microSD card slot. It doesn't come with a microSD card, though it supports up to 128GB of extra storage. The only downside is that you can't use the extended battery and microSD card slot at the same time -- you choose one or the other with the flip of a switch.

If you're okay with that caveat, Incipio's offGRID for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is available now for $90 MSRP.
