HTC Rolls Out Global One M9 Update Addressing Battery And Camera Performance

HTC is patting itself on the back for working to improve various aspects of its flagship One M9 after its release. We we recently reviewed the One M9 and had mostly good things to say about the device, and following the newest update, One M9 owners can expect the built-in camera to take better pics, improved battery life, and less heat generated while charging.

In regards to the camera, HTC says the update tweaks the auto-exposure balance algorithm to improve overall dynamic range, resulting in images that come to life with more detail and color balance, particularly when snapping photos in bright light environments. HTC also introduced improvements to low light performance for clearer and more detail shots when lighting is less than ideal.

As for the battery, the update brings about "overall improvements to battery life." Part of that entails reducing power consumption by YouTube, Facebook, and other social apps like Skype and Google Hangouts. The end result is that you should be able to watch more videos and have more video chat for longer periods of time.

Lastly, HTC made changes to its smart charging formula so that the One M9 stays cooler while it's being charged.

"In many ways, our products’ lives are just starting when they’re released into the market; we don’t just stop working on a device once people have purchased it but are constantly striving to improve the user experience and listen to customer feedback," HTC said in blog post.

The update has already been rolled out to select countries in Asia and is now deploying in Europe. One M9 owners in North America will see the update sometime later this month.
