ASUS Transformer Book Gains Low-End Grunt With T100HA And Flip TP200SA

ASUS’ popular Transformer Book family is receiving two new members today, and both are aimed more towards the entry-level market. The first new entry is the Transformer Book T100HA, which is a tablet at heart (one that weighs in at 1.28 pounds), but comes standard with a detachable keyboard (which adds another 1.04 pounds).

The T100HA is powered by Intel’s Cherry Trail-based Atom X5 Z8500, which ASUS says offers a 20 percent performance boost over its predecessor. Despite the increase in performance, ASUS is still promising 12 hours of runtime from its built-in battery and Fast-Charge technology that will take the battery from 0% to 80% in just two hours.

Given its positioning in the lineup, you’ll find a 10-inch 1280x800 IPS display, just 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. And don’t expect to see 802.11ac of Bluetooth 4.2 in this 2-in-1 — instead, you’ll find the perfectly serviceable 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0. The port selection is quite plentiful, as you’ll find microSD, microUSB, and a single USB-C 3.1 port in addition to a microSD slot for storage expansion. As for cameras, there’s a 2MP unit up front, while a 5MP unit handles rear-facing duties.

Next up is the 2.65-pound Transformer Book Flip TP200SA. As its name implies, the TP200SA looks like a regular ‘ol notebook, but can “flip” its 11.6-inch (1366x768) display 360 degrees to turn into a tablet. Whereas the T100HA has Atom power under the hood, the TP200SA instead employs a Braswell-Based Celeron N3050 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. Like the T100HA, the TP200SA also includes a USB-C 3.1 port, but also adds full-size USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports. The TP200SA trades out 802.11n connectivity for 802.11ac, but still includes Bluetooth 4.0.

Both the Transformer Book T100HA and TP200SA will be available later in September with price tags of $299 and $349 respectively.
