Asus Debuts Cute Zenbo Robot That Walks, Talks And Commands Your Smart Home
Disney Channel Original Movie Smart House is almost a reality. Asus chairman Jonney Shih unveiled Zenbo, the first Asus robot, at Computex 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan. Zenbo is a friendly and capable home robot designed to provide assistance, entertainment, and companionship.
Shih stated, “For decades, humans have dreamed of owning such a companion: one that is smart, dear to our hearts, and always at our disposal. Our ambition is to enable robotic computing for every household.”
Zenbo is designed for everyone, but is particularly useful for senior citizens and children. The robot can provide spoken reminders for doctor's appointments, medication and exercise schedules. It can also monitor and respond to emergency situations. Zenbo notifies specified family members on their smartphones if there is an accident. Family members can alro remotely control Zenbo to move nearby and use its built-in camera to visually check on their loved ones once they have been notified.
Zenbo can entertain children with songs and stories. It comes with a built-in library of stories with a variety of voices, images, and lighting. Zenbo also includes a kid-friendly, interactive encyclopedia.
The robot is also useful around the house. Zenbo can connect to and control many smart home and traditional devices, including lights, TVs, and air conditioners. It can read recipes aloud and act as a kitchen timer. Homeowners can even use Zenbo's built-in screen to view visitors at the door and then unlock it with a simple voice command. When homeowners are away, Zenbo provides a remote-controlled home security camera that is accessible from anywhere via an intuitive smartphone app. Who needs a crocodile-filled moat when you have Zenbo?
