Apple To Unleash Refreshed 15-Inch MacBook Pros And iMacs This Wednesday

Apple typically holds out for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) to trot out new or refreshed systems. However, there's a rumor going around that Apple may decide to introduce updated 15-inch MacBook Pro and 27-inch iMac systems ahead of WWDC, which would presumably indicate a bigger announcement is imminent.

News of the impending announcement originates from a
French language website citing sources that apparently been reliable in the past. The sources say than an announcement could come as early as this Wednesday, though details about the hardware changes in the new models are a little more difficult to come by.

It's probably a safe guess that both the 15-inch MacBook Pro and 27-inch iMac systems will receive an infusion of Intel's Broadwell architecture. One could also reasonably surmise that Apple will add a Force Touch trackpad to the larger size MacBook Pro, considering that both the 13-inch MacBook Pro and new 12-inch MacBook have the same feature.

Should Apple decide to make hardware announcements this week, that would leave a big question mark over WWDC. Specifically, whether or not Apple has a bigger product release in mind, or if the focus will be mostly (or entirely) on software. Apple could use WWDC to talk about upcoming plans for its Apple Watch.
