Procrastinate No Longer! Windows 10 Free Upgrade Offer Expires July 29th
But we shouldn’t let Microsoft’s overaggressive upgrade campaign make us lose sight of the benefits that Windows 10 offers. And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention that Microsoft’s free upgrade offer for Windows 10 expires this week — July 29th to be exact. The operating system has been a free upgrade ever since it launched around this time last year, but all good things must come to an end.
Starting July 30th, the Windows 10 upgrade will cost $119.99 per license, so procrastinators, your time is nearly up. We should note, however, that Windows 10 will still remain free for certain audience and platforms. Customers that use assistive technologies will still be able to upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for free for the foreseeable future.
In addition, customers with eligible Windows Phone 8.1 devices will receive a free upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile (smartphone users have of course been accustomed to not paying for OS updates).
Moving on from the standard issue Windows 10 operating system, the next line item on Microsoft’s agenda is to get the Anniversary Update out the door. The company is putting the finishing touches on the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which is scheduled to be released to customers on August 2nd. It will be a free update for all Windows 10 customers on PC, smartphone, Xbox One, and HoloLens platforms.
