In late January, Samsung kicked off the global launch of the Gear S2 Classic New Edition smartwatch. The name is defiantly a mouthful, but it merely represents two new finishes available on Samsung’s range-topping Tizen-based smartwatch: Rose Gold and Platinum.

Although both new smartwatches went up for pre-order in Europe with a $500+ price tag, folks in the United States won’t pay nearly as much. Samsung is pricing both the Rose Gold and Platinum smartwatches at $449.99, which represent a $100 premium over the standard stainless steel Gear S2 Classic (cheaper still is the standard Gear S2 which retails for $299).

The Gear S2 Classic in 18k Rose Gold will ship with an ivory-colored genuine leather band while the Platinum model will ship with a stealthy black genuine leather band. Besides the two new finishes, everything else that we love about the Gear S2 Classic remains the same including the 360x360, fully circular Super AMOLED display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 4GB of internal storage, and 250mAh battery which lasts two to three days per charge.

“At Samsung, we’re all about designing technology that integrates seamlessly with the lives of our consumers,” said Gary Riding, Samsung’s SVP of Mobile Computing. “These stunning new finishes offer consumers a way to complement their personal styles – while the revolutionary technology of the wearable complements their increasingly active, connected lives.”

The Rose Gold and Platinum models of the Gear S2 Classic will be available from the usual suspects like Best Buy and Amazon.com starting tomorrow. It will also be available direct from Samsung.com and interestingly enough from Macy’s.
