New Lumia 650 Windows 10 Mobile Smartphone Press Renders Show Slim Metal Frame

The leaks keep happening, yet Microsoft still isn’t ready to “officially” lift the veil on its latest mid-range Windows 10 Mobile smartphone: the Lumia 650. Just a few days ago, famed smartphone leaker Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) provided a press render showcasing the front of the device.

Today, a number of new press renders have surfaced showing the Lumia 650 from numerous angles, although none show the device from the rear. The renders clearly show off the smartphone’s thin 7.27mm metal-rimmed frame, which should give it a more premium feel than the much more expensive Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.

As we’ve previously reproved, the Lumia 650 is spec’d as follows:

  • 5-inch 720p AMOLED display
  • Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB or 16GB internal storage
  • microSD slot
  • 8MP rear camera
  • 5MP front-facing camera
  • 2000mAh battery
  • Available in black or white

Additional details uncovered today include reports that the Lumia 650 will initially be available from Cricket Wireless. Off-contract pricing in the United States has been pegged at sub-$200, which is a far cry from the $549 and $649 off-contract prices of the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.

We were initially expecting to see an announcement for the Lumia 650 on February 1st, but that date has come and gone. There are still a few more weeks before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, so we’ll possibly witness an announcement before the show starts.

With that being said, the Lumia 650 won’t be the only mid-range Windows 10 Mobile smartphone making the rounds early this year. VAIO announced its Phone Biz this week, which will debut with a Snapdragon 61 processor, 5.5-inch FHD display, and an aluminum unibody design.
