Dell Venue 8 Pro 5000, Venue 10 Pro 5000 Tablets Enlist Intel Atom x5 Power And Windows 10

Earlier today we brought you some news on fresh new 2-in-1 devices from ASUS, and now it’s Dell’s time with two new additions of its own. First up is the Venue 8 Pro 5000 Series tablet which Dell says has been designed for “specialized applications and on the go productivity” and is aimed at the healthcare, retail/hospitality, education and manufacturing markets.

The 8-inch Venue 8 Pro 5000 features a quad-core Intel Atom x5 Z8500 processor under its glass display display, and can be paired with either a positively minuscule 2GB or merely adequate 4GB of RAM. Interestingly, Dell is providing two screen resolution for customers to choose from: a standard 1280x800 WXGA display or an optional 1920x1200 WUXGA display. No matter which you choose, both are spec’d for brightness of 400 nits and support 10-point capacitive touch.

Storage options include 32GB of eMMC storage (standard) or 64GB (optional); storage can be expanded further with the integrated microSD slot, which supports an additional 128GB. Other features include 2MP front/5MP rear cameras, 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0, support for 4G LTE connectivity and optional NFC.

And in what is a growing trend for mobile devices, the Venue 8 Pro 5000 features a built-in USB-C port (although Dell doesn’t specify whether it support full USB 3.1 speeds). The port is used not only for connecting peripherals, but also for charging the device’s integrated 19.5 WHr lithium-ion battery.

The 0.83-pound Venue 8 Pro 5000 can be equipped with Windows Embedded, Windows 8.1 Home/Pro or Windows 10 Home/Pro (all 64-bit version) and will be priced from $299.

Dell Venue 10 Pro 5000

Moving on, the new Venue 10 Pro 5000 Series ups the ante with a larger, 10.1-inch display that is only available in a 1920x1200 screen resolution. It too is powered by an Intel Atom x5 Z8500 processor, but can only be had with 4GB of RAM. Storage options also have doubled compared to the Venue 8 Pro 5000, offering base configurations of 64GB and an option for 128GB of internal storage (which can be boosted with a microSD slot). The Venue 10 Pro 5000 also includes a 2MP front-facing camera, but the rear unit has been bumped to 8MP. Like its smaller sibling, you’ll find 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, a USB-C port, but also extra features like an additional standard USB port and microHDMI.

The 1.46-pound Venue 10 Pro 5000 also can be had with a detachable backlit keyboard which turns the tablet into a pretty capable notebook. With the keyboard attached, the weight balloons to 2.8 pounds. Other options include an Active Pen and the Dell Dock (2016 availability) which adds support for dual monitors, Ethernet, and keyboard/mouse connections via USB-C.

The Dell Venue Pro is available with the same operating system choices as the Venue 8 5000 and is priced from $429. Both of the tablets will be available in mid-November.
