Here's What We Know About Samsung's Upcoming Galaxy Note 8.0

Now that the Consumer Electronics Show is over and done with, it's time to start looking forward to Mobile World Congress (MWC), the mobile industry's largest exhibition. It will be there that Samsung unveils its Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet. Two of them, actually -- one with Wi-Fi only and the other with both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.

SamMobile, the self-proclaimed No. 1 Samsung fan site, claims to have confirmed with the tablet and handset maker a list of specs. Here's a breakdown:
  • 8-inch TFT display (1280x800 resolution)
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB/32GB internal storage
  • microSD card slot (up to 32GB)
  • 1.3MP front-facing camera
  • 5MP rear-facing camera
  • 802.11n Wi-Fi; Bluetooth 4.0
  • USB 2.0 support
  • 4600 mAh battery
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

Samsung

One thing that's curiously missing is any mention of the processor, though looking at the rest of the specs, we don't expect Samsung to use a flagship SoC in this thing. It appears Samsung wants to position the Galaxy Note 8.0 as an affordable contender and alternative to the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire, iPad mini, and so forth.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 will measure 211.3mm x 136.3mm x 7.96mm and weigh around 330g.
