Satya Nadella Sees ’Tough Choices’ And Windows 10 Greatness In Microsoft’s Future

Since Satya Nadella took over as CEO at Microsoft last February, we've witnessed the company go through a revitalization. Some of the company's missteps in recent years are a secret to no one, but as it stands today, the company's future seems more positive than it has in quite some time.

It's likewise no secret that Nadella is keen on keeping this momentum going, long after Windows 10 sees its release at the end of next month. He reiterated a number of points in a private email to employees which GeekWire happened to obtain. In it, he draws the future of the company as being one where it's nimbler than ever, and one where it caters to users by offering the best computing experiences possible, period. Even if it means having to make some "tough choices". Let's just hope those tough choices are not the same kind of tough choices seen last summer.

Microsoft's Satya Nadella

To help accomplish these goals, Nadella laid out a number of different strategies, or overarching missions that need to be thought about. These include Mission, Worldview, Strategy and ambitions, Culture, Customer-obsessed, Diverse and inclusive, and last, but not least, One Microsoft. In his email, Nadella explains the thoughts behind each of these, and there are notable takeaways in most.

Take, for example, the company's new mission statement: "Every great company has an enduring mission. Our mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more." That's bold, noble, and ambitious. But it certainly doesn't come as a surprise given what Nadella's accomplished during his tenure as CEO thus far.

"We must always ground our mission in both the world in which we live and the future we strive to create.", Nadella also adds. Throughout this email, it's clear that Nadella sees a bright future for Microsoft where both mobile and cloud is concerned, and especially with those two things working in unison.

Ultimately, Nadella wants Microsoft to continue to grow, and become a leader in computing and digital lifestyle. He sends out some feel-good vibes to help all employees get in the mood for making this become a reality: "We are a family of individuals united by a single, shared mission. It’s our ability to work together that makes our dreams believable and, ultimately, achievable. We will build on the ideas of others and collaborate across boundaries to bring the best of Microsoft to our customers as one. We are proud to be part of team Microsoft."

As mentioned before, we've seen quite the transformation at Microsoft since Nadella took the reign as CEO, and I'm sure most would agree that he's the best chance the company has of seeing this vision for the future become a reality.
