Atari Founder Nolan Bushnell Signs Mobile Games Dev Deal With Spil Games
These days it seems as though all roads lead to mobile, so why fight it? Nolan Bushnell, a man with an impressive resume that includes founding both Atari and the Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theaters chain, is embracing the movement by taking his talents to Spil Games, a Dutch video game company.
Now at 73 years old, Bushnell still has ideas bouncing around in his head, and given his past history, it would ludicrous to ignore them. Spil Games certainly isn't—as part of the newly formed partnership, the development studio will produce and publish at least three mobile games in collaboration with Bushnell.
Though the deal only covers three games, Bushnell has ambitions of creating up to eight titles if things go well. Make no mistake, this guy has a deep passion for gaming.
"The future of gaming has a very strong mobile component," Busnell said in a statement. "It's where most people play games and it's where the technology and ideas are developing most quickly."
This is a great move for Spil Games, a studio without the same level of brand recognition as outfits like Rovio. Bushnell brings instant street cred to Spil Games, along with media attention and of course his creativity. For his efforts throughout the years, Bushnell is a both an inductee into the Video Game Hall of Fame and the Consumer Electronics Association Hall of Fame.

We'll get out first look at how things work out between Bushnell and Spil Games next year when the first title from their partnership is expected to release.
