Apple Music App Receives Fresh Coat Of Paint In iOS 8.4 Beta
If you like to rock out with your iPhone out (or any other iOS device), get ready for a visual change to your Music app when iOS 8.4 arrives. It's already out in the wild in beta form, and those who've played with the next version of Apple's mobile operating system note that the Cupertino outfit overhauled the Music app, both in terms of form and function.
Apple describes the facelift as a "beautiful new design" in its release notes, adding that it's designed in a way that's supposed to make exploring your music collection easier and more fun. One way to do that is by personalizing your playlists by adding your own image and description. You can also see pictures of artists in the Artists view.
It's a pretty massive redesign with several new features and tweaks, including a new MiniPlayer. Using the MiniPlayer, music lovers can see what's playing and control playback while browsing their collection of tunes. If you want to open Now Playing, you can just tap on the MiniPlayer.
Speaking of which, Now Playing has been overhauled, too. It has a "stunning new design" that focuses on your album's artwork. You can also start wirelessly streaming your music using AirPlay without leaving Now Playing.
Some of the other feature additions and tweaks you can expect include a global search function (search from anywhere in the Music app), and Up Next icon that when tapped will show you what's on tap, and more.
