PlayStation 4 Remote Play Support For PC And Mac Coming With 3.50 Firmware
If you're a beta tester for the PlayStation 4, check your inbox tomorrow for an email with instructions on how to download Sony's next major system software update, version 3.50 (otherwise known as MUSASHI). Everyone else will have to wait until it graduates from beta, but in the meantime, Sony wanted to share some highlights of the update to all PS4 owners.
One of the biggest upgrades version 3.50 brings is Remote Play support for Windows PCs and Macs. Sadly, it's not a feature that will be included for testing in the beta update tomorrow, but it is slated to be part of the final patch. When it arrives, gamers will be able to stream what they're playing on their PS4 onto their Windows PC or Mac, just as they are currently able to do with their PS Vita and Xperia smartphones.
Live streaming support to Dailymotion is also headed to the PS4. With the 3.50 update, PS4 gamers will be able to live stream directly to Dailymotion with support for live broadcasts, just as gamers can do with other streaming services, such as Twitch and Ustream.
In addition to new streaming options, Sony is rolling out a handful of social features. Following the 3.50 update, you'll have the option of being notified when members of your friends list sign onto the network. And on the flip side, you can make yourself appear offline if you'd rather not be bothered by your gaming buddies.
The last two things on Sony's agenda are User Scheduled Events and Play Together. The former lets you schedule a future gameplay session with your friends on the system, and when the event starts, users who registered will automatically be added to a party. And the latter allows members of a party to see watch person is playing so you can easily join friend's game or start a new one together.
